I can always appreciate ideas that help us reduce, recycle or reuse things around here so that can lessen what goes out to the street for trash day each week and love that my kids are learning these lessons at school now too. This week, I came across this clever idea to reuse cereal boxes from Mike Lieberman at 365 Ways to Go Green.
Used Cereal Box to Organize Plastic Bags
My roommate was going to throw his cereal box in the trash. I decided to use it to organize all of the plastic bags that are under the sink instead.Previously I used one of his old rice boxes to store seasoning packets.
According to RethinkRecycling: Nearly 30% of our trash is packaging. A lot of it is cardboard that can be reused or recycled.
It would be great if we could totally eliminate the trash, but reusing works.Around the Rau house, we like to use those larger cardboard box sides to protect pictures or art that we send in the mail to grandparents. This week, we've got a Joe's O's box cut up and decorated to become the "hard" covers to books that the kids are making for Thanksgiving.
Tell us how you reuse cardboard boxes in the comments below and let's all aim to put less out at the curb.

So funny that I came across this today, Gina. I just set an empty cereal box on the dining table amongst all the wrapping paper thinking that it would make a good box for a shirt I bought my husband for xmas. Now I'm just deciding if I cover it with paper to make for a funny reveal, or just add ribbons and stick a box of Kashi under the tree!
