At my mom's birthday celebration last weekend, all the ladies took home a necklace with a different symbol. My symbol was one word: Believe. Which was really special for my mom who repeatedly told herself "don't stop believing" as she dealt with my dad's health scare just a few days prior. I was glad to have blindly picked that symbol.
My aunt, who organized the party and the ritual around these symbols, sent along two charms for the kids with me. A butterfly for Marcelena and a wise owl for Patrick. When I gave them their necklaces, I shared the meaning behind each but didn't say much about mine since I wasn't wearing it.
Well, I just wore it. And my little girl, who adores jewelry, asked about it before she even said good morning to me. Patrick was quick to read the word to her, and she was equally as fast in asking him "believe what?". His exact response was...
You know, Marci, believe in yourself, and believe in God, and believe in peace, and believe in love. And, just believe in everyone, Marci.

What a little prophet ! Tears streamed down my face! Maybe you could ask him to contemplate my big questions in life? Patrick, what is your image of God? What is my purpose in life? Tell Patrick he can call me and share his wisdom with me.

Sometimes we can't improve upon the wisdom and grace of children...and obviously yours have both!
It's message opened my heart and mind...ahhhhh, from the mouth of babes! SEE what a wonderful job you are doing as a Mom (and Justin as a Dad)!....this stuff doesn't come from nowhere!
Your children are beautiful and I am so happy for you (and for Linda & Larry too)! Somehow blessing always begets blessings, huh?!!
