An earlier post mentioned how much Patrick and Marcelena love spending time with their books - apparently all of their books. We have three bookshelves just for children's books which are completely full, a large basket downstairs with board books and Patrick's special collection that he reads often on his nightstand. We have a lot of books!
Which led me to believe that we could donate a decent amount of our gently loved books that we've outgrown to the Friends of the Library (The Book Corner) to benefit others. I guess that I underestimated how attached we've become to some of our books.
First, there's board books that Marcelena really enjoys looking at during our bedtime ritual or on her own. And I was also surprised at my own feelings of sentiment which kept a good amount of Patrick's first books out of the box - Mommy Loves, Daddy Cuddles, Goodnight Moon, Papa Please Get the Moon for Me, and many more. When we visit my parent's house, the kid's rooms are filled with books from my own childhood and I'd like to share special memories with their kids someday.
So, we have a box of books to donate - not as much as I expected, but a decent amount that we're dropping off today. We all feel good about sharing these books with others who likely don't have the collection we do. And we enjoyed looking through our special books filled with what seems like distant memories.

Love that the children are enjoying going through their book collection and choosing books to share with other children. This is a great reminder for us to go through our "stuff" and share with others....because we have more "stuff" than we need at this point in life. Truly believe that "it's in the giving that we receive." It warms our hearts to hear about the all the wonderful ways you are trying to "be the change "...let's hope it's contagious!. We are very proud of your family! Love, Gammy and Grandpa
